'Tis the Season

Since moving back to the Pacific Northwest, I've been itching to get out and have a photoshoot... What better way than to have a couples session at a local tree farm just North of Vancouver, Washington.

Now I've known the young lady in the photographs for a while now. I actually taught her how to play tennis when she was in high school. She was an exceptional student in that she always wanted to learn, always had a positive & grateful attitude, and just genuinely enjoyed the game. Now she's out of high school, graduated from college and I couldn't be more excited for her in life.

She and her boyfriend, Josh, are adventurers to the tenth degree. They are always out in nature on the weekends exploring new trails, hiking, camping, etc. A very active couple! So who better than these two to ask for a couples session at a local tree farm. Now, this was their first-ever couples session so they didn't really know what to expect. Needless to say, they exceeded all my expectations - they were perrrfect. Now I know, perfect is such a strong word so what makes a "Perfect" couples session?

My definition of a "Perfect" couples session is this - pretend that I'm not there! That's it - simple right?! The issue is, we're so worried about looking 'Perfect' in every picture - we need to make sure our hair looks good, our smiles look natural, etc... but that's just it, it's not! It comes out unnatural, staged, the complete opposite of perfect. What made this couple perfect was that they focused solely on each other. I gave them a few prompts and they made them their own. That made the pictures come out natural, fun, loving, therefore creating a perfect experience.

As a wedding + elopement photographer, my main focus is my couples. I'm not just going to show up the day of your wedding, take meaningless pictures, and send you a gallery 6 weeks later. I spend time getting to know the two of you. I set up a Zoom call so you know what I look like before our Couples Engagement Session. We have an Engagement Session before the wedding so I can see how the two of you interact, what you're comfortable with, and to deepen our relationship further. By the time the Wedding day arrives, the two of you will have all the faith in the world with me. I'll be able to tell your story.

So let's do this! Let's chat - let's work together! Let's create memories that will last you a lifetime. Feel free to reach out to me by email at Natalia_Burrows@outlook.com.
